On Monday, February 10th, 2020, the UCLA Latino Alumni Association (ULAA) hosted a Career Night at the James West Alumni Center for current UCLA Latinx students where we collaborated with student organizations like UCLA Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALFPA), the Latino Business Student Association (LBSA), and Hermanos Unidos de UCLA. This event featured 6 UCLA Alumni panelists who provided students with valuable insight, inspiration, and mentorship. The diverse and accomplished panelists for our Career Night were:
Earl Watson '19, 13 year NBA Veteran and the first NBA head coach of Latin decent
Esmeralda Melgoza ‘19, Ph.D student at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health
Gabriela Forter ‘17, Consultant at Deloitte
Jonathan Pacheco Bell '05, Senior Urban Planner in Los Angeles County
Max Vela ‘17, Strategy and Finance Associate at Envoy
Stephanie Aguilar, Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator at Paramount
Through this event and with your support, the 50+ guests in attendance gained new professional and social capital, and knowledge on how to become more well-rounded employees in their respective future industries. ULAA Career Night was a successful first step in building the bridge between today and tomorrow's industry leaders, and we invite you to attend our upcoming events as ULAA continues to prepare Latino students for future success.
